Leah

Coming of age celebration for my friend, Leah.

She wore my kimono by Itchiku Kubota, a Japanese textile artist and most famous for reviving and reinventing a lost late-15th- to early-16th-century textile dyeing technique known as “Tsujigahana.”

My mother took me to a kimono exhibit in Sendai, Japan when I was 16 and I chose this kimono for my own coming of age celebration.

It had never been worn since I was living in the United States when I was 20.

What a joy to see beautiful Leah wearing this.

Thank you, Leah!
